“If someone asks you how you are, you are meant to say FINE. You are not meant to say that you cried yourself to sleep last night because you hadn't spoken to another person for two consecutive days. FINE is what you say.” *** ABOUT THE BOOK *** Title: Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine Author...

I steeled myself as best I could, and, with teeth gritted, using only one finger I typed: C U there E. I sat back, feeling a bit queasy. Illiterate communication was quicker, that was true, but not by much. I'd saved myself the trouble of typing four whole characters. Still, it was part of my ne...

This is my RL's book club selection for August, and seeing as how I skipped the last two (one of which I genuinely forgot about), I felt obliged to give this a chance. Luckily a friend and fellow BC member loaned me her copy. I actually DNFd it at the end of chapter 2. Put it down and actually s...

After being out of commission for more than a week due to my back, I am glad to finally get to post some reviews. Today is the first day since the 14th that I have been able to sit in a chair and what a relief it is! The upside of not being able to do much is that I got 5 books finished, so I guess ...

I liked this because I could relate to a lot of parts, but I don't think my star rating should count as a recommendation for just anyone. There is a reason that this debut novel has been on hold for many, many months and why it continues to be difficult to get in a hurry. Gail Honeyman has managed to create a character so unique and delightful that I found myself instantly enamored of her. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is the st...

Well I thought about it and just decided to give this one 3 stars. I honestly felt the need to go back and re-read "The Rosie Project" again after finishing this. Parts of it were pretty amusing, however, the main character Eleanor is written pretty inconsistently. And I just had a hard time with he...

Eleanor Oliphant thinks she is completely fine, only she is not. This book explores why Eleanor is this way and how she grows as a person. This is a nicely written book with a decent plot and character development. The book reminds me of Michelle Magorian's Good Night Mr. Tom.

This is not a book I would normally read but am most certainly glad I did and by so doing made the acquaintance of the eloquent Eleanor Oliphant. The story is told in the first person from Eleanor's point of view and on first meeting she seems a happy, contented individual employed as a finance cler...

Gail Honeyman’s Eleanor Oliphant, the narrator of her debut novel is more than fine, she is wonderful! One of the most genuine and deeply moving character journeys I’ve read in a very long time – powerful enough to evoke tears of laughter and sadness. One of our Top Reads of 2017. Read our full re...
