Byatt is an exceptionally creative short story writer. This is my third collection of her short stories and, although not my favourite, it is still definitely worthy of 5 stars. The fairytale feel of the stories was nice, and her descriptions of the simplest of things are unparalleled and very magic...
I think short story is the right Byatt format for me. I like her writing style but her long books tend to loose me halfway through.
Good, varied, intriguing, subtle - similar format to her Matisse short stories. Probably worth 3.5*.
