In this modern-day retelling of Pride and Prejudice, the way people know that Chip Bingley, an ER doctor "in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife” is that two years before, he appeared on a Bacheloresque dating show called Eligible (without selecting either of the two female cont...
Eligible is described as a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice and that is exactly what it is. I picked it up on Audible for my ride to work and hoped for the best. It did not disappoint. I really liked it and the narrator was perfect for the story. The characters were all perfect and I have t...
This is a retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, but honestly, if that sounds intimidating to you, or too high-school-reading-assignment-ish, I will say that it is a fun, well-written book. I am a fan of Jane Austen, but I would suggest that if you have not read any of her books, that shoul...
Mr Bennet has had a heart attack so Lizzy and her elder sister Jane return to the family home in Cincinnati. There she finds her younger sisters caught up in a Crossfit health craze, but doing little to provide for themselves. Her middle sister Mary is doing yet another degree, and again failing to ...
A modern telling of Pride and Prejudice. Very tongue-in-cheek. I laughed a lot as the story went on. I liked how she brought in so much of today's pop culture. Well done and it stays true to the original. I would read this and Ms. Sittenfeld again. So much fun!
This has to be one of the best Pride and Prejudice re-tellings I've read. The Bennet family is perfect, set in their ways and determined to go about as usual. Mr. Bennet is priceless. His dry wit and off-hand humor was amazing and spot on. In fact, all the characters were portrayed in a way that kep...
I have started and stopped this review about half a dozen times. I don't even know where to begin with how much I disliked this book. I love Pride and Prejudice. I was so happy to read that book last year after watching so many adaptations of the book. However, I have noticed lately that a lot of au...
Eligible is one of those books I was just seeing everywhere, and then by some stroke of fortune my tiny little library had it on the “new reads” shelf. I was so excited! I was even the first person to check it out.:) Then of course I discoverd that it is one of a series of Austen retellings called T...
This was pretty entertaining. I enjoyed noticing each way that the author made the characters modern and different from their original counterparts. The father was a hoot for sure. The author did a great job of fitting all the drama from the current era.
