Series: Amelia Peabody #7 As I stated in my previous update, it may have been a mistake to jump to the seventh book directly after the first. It’s possible that I would have been more invested in the characters and more lenient with some of the narrative twists and turns that presented themselves....

Not much of a review, but I enjoyed this one almost as much as the first in the series, and I look forward to reading more about Amelia's adventures in the remaining books in this series.

I'm not at all sure what to say about this book. It's ... not great. Definitely not one of Peters' best by a long shot, but it's oddly readable. The MC, Elizabeth, is on the plane, on her way to Denmark for a long awaited vacation, when she spots her literary idol on the plane too. In an effo...

This was my third Barbara Michaels for Halloween bingo, and I am using it to claim Fear the Drowning Deep, which is also the final square to black out my bingo board. It is a bit of a stretch, but involves a main character who goes to the island of Thera (now called Santorini) to spend the summer di...

I cannot believe I've never read these books before now. This book was published one year after I was born. I've heard about them for ages. Anyway, I was thoroughly charmed by this book, and by Amelia, Emerson, Evelyn, and Walter. Amelia, though, in particular. I utterly adored her voice. I have...

If you've ever read a romantic suspense title by Elizabeth Peters, you'll know what you're getting here. If you haven't, expect a lot of narrative banter, outstanding atmosphere and setting, outstanding if superficial characterisations, a vintage version of insta-love, and an insanely silly plot th...

The Camelot Caper by Elizabeth Peters Book #0.5 of Vicky Bliss For Jessica Tregarth, an unexpected invitation to visit her grandfather in England is a wonderful surprise--an opportunity to open doors to a family past that have always been closed to her. But sinister acts greet her arrival. A s...

A rather mad-cap send up of the classic gothic romance by Elizabeth Peters, made even more amusing by the fact that Elizabeth Peters actually wrote classic gothic romance under the pen name Barbara Michaels. At times it veered into farce, but was still more enjoyable than not. This is a very light...

Series: Amelia Peabody #1 I didn’t like the tone this book started off with, and I found Amelia really annoying, at least at the start. She grew on me once she picked up Evelyn as a companion, however. I did like their interactions. Amelia, a rich Englishwoman, has travelled to Rome from where she...

The Emerson's are off on another adventure, and this one is bound to leave you begging for more! Don't be deceived into thinking this one will not be as grand as the others. While we are not spending much of our time in Egypt, there is quite a bit that this book has to offer. Grab your book, a great...
