The Dark Victorian: Risen is set in a steampunk London with magic and paranormal aspects. Jim, an agent of Prince Albert’s Secret Commission, is given a new partner: Artifice, a Quaker and artificial ghost (meaning that she can turn incorporeal at will). All agents of the Secret Commission were once...

I found this quite surprising. It was a strange tale and told well. There were parts were the story just rambled and certain bits could have been left out. But it was a good read and a great start to what could be a great series

I would read so much more in this series. I don't usually buy novellas, but I would buy a whole run of these. I absolutely love this world, and if anything, these prose novellas prove just how much I'm still in love with, and in awe of, the world that Watasin has created. It feels as slyly su...

When I picked up issue one of Charm school, I hadn't heard of a lot of things. Slave Labor Graphics. Elizabeth Watasin. Bunny, the good teenage witch, who had shown up in Action Girl Comics earlier. And here's where this review gets a bit autobiographical and kinda... weird. Or weird for...

I found this a little muddled at times, especially towards the end of the novel. That said, the characters are well drawn, the world building is solid, the idea inventive, the wordplay quite funny, and the ideas interesting. I do wish the plot had been a little tighter. Still, enjoyable.

"Sundark" is a little bit steampunk, a little bit horror novel, a little bit Victorian penny-dreadful ... and a whole lot of entertainment! Paranormal investigator Elle Black is asked to visit Sundark, a hotel/boarding house whose guests are disappearing with incredible regularity. Is there a murd...

It had the appeal of novelty; too rushed to be really gripping and fully satisfying, but overall entertaining. “The Dark Victorian” is a paranormal mystery with a hint at an f/f romance that may be developed in the next installments. The world is Steampunk-like : England is protected from Evil by ...

**Thank you A-Girl Studios and Netgalley for providing this in exchange for an honest review** Elle is a clairvoyant, telekinetic, who helps out Prince Albert’s Royal Commission whenever needed. She and her wife, Faedra, live during the same time and place as the Dark Victorian books. Elle receive...

Risen, the first book in Elizabeth Watasin's The Dark Victorian series, is a brilliant tale of mystery and the paranormal intertwined with the Victorian era. Art, short for Artifice, is an artificial ghost, a women who died and was resurrected to work for the Secret Commission. Paired with Jim Dasta...
