ELLEN VAUGHN is a New York Times bestselling author and inspirational speaker. Her collaborative books include Choosing to SEE--which spent six weeks on the New York Times bestseller list--as well as Shattered, Lost Boy, The God Who Hung on the Cross, and It's All About Him. The last debuted at #1 on the New York Times nonfiction list. Vaughn's newest book, co-written with Marty Makary, is Mama Maggie: The Untold Story of One Woman's Mission to the Forgotten Children of Cairo's Garbage Slums. This is the authorized biography of the "Mother Teresa of Egypt," Nobel Peace Prize-nominated Egyptian leader Maggie Gobran, released by Thomas Nelson in March 2015. Vaughn has authored or co-authored 20 books, including Come, Sit, Stay, Time Peace and Radical Gratitude. Her award-winning novels are The Strand and Gideon's Torch, which she coauthored with her friend and mentor, the late Chuck Colson. She collaborated with Colson on eight other nonfiction books. Former vice president of executive communications for Prison Fellowship, Vaughn serves as a Senior Fellow for the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative. She speaks frequently at retreats, conferences, and writers' seminars. She holds a Master of Arts from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond. Vaughn and her husband, Lee, a cancer survivor, live in the Washington, D.C. area. They are enjoying being empty nesters, though they have traded out their three kids for two dogs who seem to be equally needy.

This book was a long one, but it was good. Even though it was written in 1995, many things this novle described as being in our future, such as people frowning upon the phrase "Merry Christmas," are a reality in 2011. The detail was quite incredible, and it was well worth the time; just prepare to...
