A big shout-out to Locus Amoenus for recommending this book: it hit almost all the right spots for me. As a result, it's one of the rare instances where a book that I'm rating 3 1/2 stars also goes onto my "Favorites" shelf (which usually doesn't happen with anything that I'm not at least rating 4 ...
I wasn't expecting to like this book but I ended up loving it! Even though it's fairly obvious what's going to happen in parts, the small twist at the end got me. And I couldn't help feeling awful for thr antagonist. It's more a drama than a thriller though so don't expect it to be one.
I want very much to give this 3.5 stars. An interesting book as from the outset we know what is happening with the child who has been abducted. I didn't find it particularly gripping but rather there was an overall sadness throughout the book that made me want to read on. There were several points...
