[Still catching up on my 2015 books] In the first half of this book, while I was still enjoying it, I was also feeling conflicted about my enjoyment of it because OSC's devotion to the "sanctity of [his definition of] marriage" is pretty nauseating to me. So I lamented that, "I wish OSC wasn't so ...

I liked the concept of this book but not the execution which was terrible. Neither Ivan nor Katerina were likable. Heck not one single character was likable - not Ivan's two-dimensional parents, not King Matfei, not Father Lukas, not Brother Sergei, not even Ruth! So first of all there isn't a sing...

I had some doubts prior to reading Enchantment. I have read a few other Orson Scott Card, and didn't especially care for them. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised to read Enchantment. Our story's hero, Ivan, is a Ukranian living in the United States, where he is a grad student. He is myster...

This is no Ender's Game, but nonetheless a beautiful little retelling of Sleeping Beauty & a wonderful escape of a read.

So awesome!! I loved Card's Ender books and am a big fan of books that play with fairy tales, and this was a perfect combination of the two. Orson Scott Card is of course best known for Ender's Game, an sf classic to be sure but he has written several other books which to my mind are equally good. Unfortunately these tend to be overlooked as readers are so enamored of the Ender series. Consequently Enchantment is unjustly less than famo...

This is the story of what happens after Sleeping Beauty awakens and how her Happily, or maybe Not-So-Happily, Ever After begins…This book was really well written, with a fabulous plot full of imagination and wonderful world building. Enchantment takes you on a creative journey into the world of Russ...

I loved this book! It is one that keeps coming to my mind years later, and I just think, "Wow, that was a great story!" Great love story, great tension, great imagination and world building for the fantasy cross over sections.

As we outgrow our childhood, we say goodbye to many fun traditions. No longer do we believe in the Easter Bunny or hope that the Tooth Fairy will bring us gifts in the night (although some financial assistance for crowns and wisdom teeth extractions would be nice). With adulthood, we stop reading ...
