Biographical Note for Erdman B. Palmore, PhD Palmore is Professor Emeritus at the Duke Center for the Study of Aging. He was born in Japan of missionary parents. He received a BA degree from Duke University, a MA from the University of Chicago, and his PhD from Columbia University. His current major research interest is the study of ageism. His recent publications include The Encyclopedia of Ageism; the International Handbook on Aging; and Older Can Be Bolder. He is a Humanist Celebrant, President of the local UN Association, a hiker, bicycle rider, and octogenarian.He is trying to prove that you can improve with age by riding his age (now 82) in miles on his bicycle; and doing his age in push-ups, sit-ups, and knee-bends.
