I LOVE Scott Hale's writing style ( unique and very descriptive ), and the story itself was amazing ! very strong characters. it all happens in a post-apocalyptic world , Vrana Of the Raven is the main character , a hunter who goes on an adventure to seek answers, a journey that changes her life fo...

A Touch of Scarlet, from its title, is about The Scarlet Letter. It is not a retelling, far from it, but the main protagonist, Emma, ends up in a parallel world, the one from The Scarlet Letter, by entering a dreamlike state. This happens every time she ends up going near the place where she got str...

I really appreciate the way that the books in this series are NOT retellings. The main character, Emma, sort of "falls into" Jane Eyre for points in the first book, Breath of Eyre (after she's struck by lightning) and then hallucinates herself into The Scarlet Letter in this one. I guess the way I'd...

Emma Townsend once again finds herself trapped between two worlds — her drama-filled life at Lockwood Prep, and Hester Pryne’s Puritan community from The Scarlet Letter.I knew I had to escape and get back to the bridge if I wanted to be released from the spell. Very unique and creative. I love all the parallels between Emma's life and Jane Eyre's and how wonderfully the two stories compliment one another. Smartly done, and an enjoyable angsty romance to boot. ;)

A Breath of Eyre was a lovely debut novel about Emma Townsend who gets to live her own life as well as Jane Eyre’s in a fascinating re-telling that I loved. My favorite thing about modern retellings is looking for little references and clues to the original story. I had a lot of fun in A Breath of...
