While this was enjoyable and fun to read, it didn't necessarily tell me anything I didn't already know. I think this book is perfect for the people (men and women) who disdain romance and by default, the people who write and read it. About a year ago, I was at the post office mailing out several boo...

I love Sarah Wendell's blog (Smart Bitches Trashy Books) and her podcast with Jane Litte of Dear Author (DBSA Romance Fiction Podcast), and I really really loved Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches Guide to Romance Novels, which is both smart and uproariously funny. So, I was very excited when ...

By seeing everything out on the page you can ask yourself, wha...

3 stars for its take on romance literarure and how it doesn't have to be a guilty pleasure reading. The self help aspect of the book becomes redondant early on and doesn't really give anything new to the very large corpus of self help psychology out there. The twist of using romance novels as text b...

It was an enjoyable read though at times a little bit too... rose-colored. While I do get that Ms. Wendell is doing her best to squash stereotypes of us romance lovers (and readers), there are times when she ventures into the "IT'S SUCH A PERFECT WORLD".

3+ stars. A good, quick, humorous read, but only a few things that will remain memorable. The book covers a variety of different romance novel- and love-related themes, to varying degrees of success. For example, I only skim-read through the chapter on heroes, titled "We Know More Than A Few Good Me...

Sarah Wendell, also popularly known on the internet as Smart Bitch Sarah, is the co-founder of the romance blogsite Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, which is one of several websites I discovered a few years ago, which helped me rediscover my love of romance as a genre. Readers of my book blog will know ...
