Fiction is creating order out of chaos. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close gave a semblance of coherence in the mind of a mentally hyperactive kid named Oskar, who some noted is autistic and has Aspergers. His social encounters however, marked with a quirky personality, prove the contrary. Disclaim...

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is really two separate stories that only mesh together at the very end. One is the story of Oskar Schell, an eight-year-old struggling to make sense of his father’s death at the World Trade Center on September 11th. The second revolves around Oskar’s grandfather, wh...

Didn't get to read this book straight through and felt somewhat lost, at first, when I finally returned to it, but once I got back into it I was glad I made the effort. Haunting, mystifying, touching, tender, and memorable.

This is an incredible book. I haven't read something as different and yet as universally appealing in ages! I'd say I'm going to go back and re-read it because it's that good. And nothing ever turns out quite like you think it will.

I got about 29% through on my Kindle. I REALLY wanted to like this book with the movie coming out (looks good) and the wonderful reviews. But, I found it convoluted and tedious. I finally realized that there are too many books I want to read, so why stay stuck on something I'm forcing myself to read...

One of the best books I have read in a long time. I believe it has made it to my top 10 and possibly even my top 5. His characters are so well written and unique. So many things spoke to me in this book... things I experienced but I couldn't express and Jonathan Safran Foer put them into the words t...
