Awards include the NM Governor's Distinguished Public Service Award, the Franklin J. Goodnow Award for Distinguished Service from the APSA, the Regents' Meritorious Service Award, the APSA/COSCP Recognition Award and the Navajo Nation's Chief Manuelito Award. Professor Garcia served as President of the University of New Mexico for a one-year term, August 2002-July 2003. He has also served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and Provost. Recent & Representative Publications:He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters and reviews.
