Felix Dodds was born in Derby, England. He was active in the UK Liberal Party culminating in chairing its youth wing (1985-87). His first book Into the Twenty-First Century was on the realignment of UK politics around a green agenda. He is a senior fellow at the Global Research Institute at the University of North Carolina and an Associate Fellow at the Tellus Institute in Boston. He is also the co-director of the Nexus Conference on Water-Energy-Food and Climate (2014-2016).He was Executive Director of Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future from 1993 until 2012 and has been involved in a number of UN Conferences and Summits on Sustainable Development leaving them in 2012.In 2011 he chaired the UN DPI NGO Conference Sustainable Society - Responsive Citizens and he chaired the NGO Coalition at the UN on Sustainable Development for four years (1997-2001) he promoted the concept of stakeholder involvement as a mechanism to enhance government decision making. He has authored a number of books on how to lobby at the UN and more recently has published on environmental security. His book Human and Environmental Security was nominated as the best environmental book of 2006
