Is he not the guy who writes horror stories? That’s what everyone says when I declare I enjoy reading Stephen King novels. What an insult to one of our greatest living novelists, an author now in his 72nd year and still with the hunger, and still writing with a verocity that must be the envy of many...
This was a much slower moving story than Mr. Mercedes, with the setup and history to the main action taking up the bulk of the book. But the author is so good at breathing life into the characters and sprinkling action and excitement into seemingly mundane scenes, that I was carried along without re...
In my opinion, the second book in the series is not as good as the first one. There were too many things that just "casually" fit in the story, so it didn't feel real. For instance, the characters had a million options to consider in a given circumstance, but somehow they immediately jumped to the c...
This book opens with a dissatisfied reader, Morris Bellamy, robbing and killing the author of his favorite books, stealing money and unpublished work. He then goes to prison for another crime after hiding his stash. That is then found by a young boy, Pete Saubers, whose father was injured at the job...
This was the second book in this series. Stephen King is my favorite author so of course I read everything by him. This book series hasn't always had the best reviews mostly because it's more of a mystery/thriller book compared to some of his more horror type books. I absolutely loved the first book...
Enter a world where people obsess over books that aren't Harry Potter.Peter Saubers' family is having a tough time of it. The GFC has hit hard, his dad was hit hard with a car, and the arky-barkies might tear the family apart. Then he stumbles upon a literal treasure chest: stolen money and notebook...
Finders Keepers is about a long ago crime and a boy who unwittingly gets himself in trouble with a murderer when he uncovers buried treasure and doesn’t keep it a secret. Characters from Mr. Mercedes make an appearance but they’re not a huge part of this one. I enjoyed Finders Keepers but not quit...
I’m a big fan of King’s recent works as of late. Revival is probably my favorite King novel at the moment, and I loved Mr. Mercedes. I was surprised to find out that he’d make it a trilogy. And let me tell you, Finders Keepers delivers. At least from where I stand. Almost like a love letter to boo...
I enjoyed it, not as much as I enjoyed Mr Mercedes, but more than some others. Stephen King can largely write in any genre he choses. I still prefer his horror to straight up crime but still this was a good read while setting the scene for the third of this trilogy.
