I liked the story and actually enjoyed it more than the first one. Probably because I liked the main character better.Still I can’t separate this book from its views on feminism and other things, it’s all just not right. Also, why the endless talk about Fire’s period? I mean all women get them and us...

The second part of a trilogy, this volume centers around Fire, a "monster", whose characteristic is to bewitch those around her through her beauty. It takes place in a land to the east of the action in "Graceling" and Leck is the only common character to both books. Fire's life is changed when her p...

I'm not really a fan of this series. I read Graceling several years ago and remember being mildly impressed with Cashore's technical writing skills, but I felt that overall it lacked emotional power. Don't get me wrong, Cashore deals with some pretty heavy circumstances surrounding her characters, i...

A commendable beginning with a semi-interesting boy who can control minds, but because this is "YA by Older Woman" the protagonist MUST be female otherwise it won't adhere to the pathetic modern day notion of what feminism is.

After Graceling's blandness I hadn't planned to seek this "prequel" out, but we got a used copy in my store so I borrowed it on a whim. I'm glad I did--I liked this book much more than I did the first. Fire suffers from many of the same flaws that Katsa does--both have a genetic gift/curse that ostr...

After reading Graceling I couldn't wait to start reading Fire. It wasn't as good which was a slight let down but still enjoyable. Also it doesn't matter if you haven't read Graceling as it takes part in another part of the kingdom, however a familiar face does open the book. For anyone who hasn't re...

Bloody life kept getting in the way of this amazing book, especially the ending, which i feel brought my enjoyment down to 4 stars otherwise this magical art probably would of hit the 5 star mark. maybe next time.) The characters where amazing. I absolutely adored Fire, she had this incredible per...

‘Fire’ is the second book in the ‘Graceling’ series, although it takes place some forty years earlier and in a different world from the first installment This a good thing actually, because otherwise we would be dealing with the unavoidable Book Two Love Triangle. While I didn’t love ‘Fire’ as muc...

In Dells, monsters abound. Most of them are predatory animals or birds, incredibly beautiful but with a dreadful ability to overwhelm human mind. Only one of the monsters of Dells is human – Fire, the seventeen-year-old protagonist of this novel. She lives in a remote corner of the kingdom and tries...
