You should read this book. I've read so many lately that I don't really say that so vehemently anymore. I have stopped giving out 5 stars so generously. But the writing here is just incredible.I rarely have such an emotional reaction to a story. A bit of fun, a bit of interest, usually a "sigh!"...

Once again, Ted Dekker does not disappoint. In this book he teams up with Tosca Lee. This is an awesome book with the slightest hint of Christian undertones. The setting itself is an unique dystopian society. I can't wait for the next in the series.

A novel concept, in my experience, but the writing just isn't that interesting. After the apocalypse, remaining scientists find a way to genetically remove all emotions from humanity except fear. Almost 500 years later, a few people find a way to restore those emotions. I can understand that a ma...

The problem with reading the first in a series right when it comes out, instead of waiting for the entire series, is that you have to wait so long for the next book. I have no patience when it come to this! I can't wait until the next book come out. I want to know what happens next! I really, rea...

But realization could have been better. The characters are naive, illogical and just plain boring. This book hit all my pe...

It’'s a safe bet that this novel wouldn'’t have crossed my radar without the Faith & Fiction Roundtable, which is part of the reason I wanted to be part of that group. Forbidden - the first volume in a planned trilogy called The Books of Mortals - was the subject of our September discussion, althoug...

Over the past half-decade or so, Ted Dekker's literary works have become quite the tour de force. His writings have even gotten rave reviews from secular critics, something seldom seen in the Christian publishing world. It's books like "Forbidden" that prove why Dekker has garnered such praise. A...

4-5/5I am restraining the urge to go all fangirly, given that is the first book of Dekker’s that I’ve read. But me saying ‘I liked this’ is quite the understatement. I don’t know what I was expecting when I first started it, but not this: Forbidden, with some (not all) of its well drawn characters. ...
