This was interesting and made me think and this is why I'm adding it here. ETA: This is a bit long. It brought up some of the anxiety I have annually when work wants me to sign the Disability Survey, the question they ask is if you have a physical or mental condition that impacts your ability t...
Updraft is set in a world in which people live in bone towers, high above the clouds. They are ruled/controlled by the Singers, mysterious grey-robed people who live in the Spire at the centre of the city and only visit the towers for ceremonial purposes, to sentence Lawsbreakers (usually harshly) o...
So, first of all, I mentioned to Fran that I'd heard good things about her work. She was signing next to Cathrynne Valente, and I leaned over and said that. Oh, well, she had two copies of this, would I like one? Yup, and signed? Yes, I would love that! I liked reading this during Read...
4.5 - 5 starsI liked this novella so much I wish it had been a longer book (something I rarely say). I should've just probably put up the publisher's description and said "Read it, it's special." --- I don't normally do this, but let me start with the Publisher's Description: In a city of l...
I reviewed Updraft for The Green Man Review. Go there and read it if you want a review; this is more of a meditational commentary. There may be Spoilers here. I noted in my review that there's some spiffy well-thought out world building, of the sort you'd expect from NIven, Cherryh or McCaffrey....
