A wonderful premise is ruined by poor writing. The story, while laced with intriguing references (Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, A Clockwork Orange, and the Lincoln assassination), drags under unnecessary descriptions, boring characters, and terrible pacing. Such a letdown.
