I used to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in the late 90's with my mom. We'd seen the movie back in the day and as I kid I loved the idea that a normal girl could one day become a Slayer, an ass-kicking hero. I found it empowering. Later I watched the television show by Joss Whedon, though I ...

5 Stars, buy it!!! Self Purchase, Kindle First Impression: Wow, this seriously has potential (of course I should know this since Joss Whedon wrote this) Wow. Wow. Wow. This is seriously fantastic. Melaka Fray is a young woman who finds out she is destined to fight vampires. I love Melaka, ...

This is a dystopian view of the future "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" world. A bit of back-story in the book hints that Buffy eliminated demons from the world by sacrificing herself. Ever since then, no other slayer has been called... this is where the story lost me a little because vampires still exist...

A sort of Buffy sequel, set way in the future with an almost entirely different setting. Malaka Fray is a Slayer, but she'll have no Watcher. They're no more than a demented cult at this point. Her guidance comes from a demon. There are vampires, but they're called lurks and regarded as just another...

My first foray into graphic novels, and it was a bit of a rough transition. I saw "Joss Whedon" and "Slayer", and mistakenly assumed I'd be reading something contemporary. Now, years later, finally caught up on the TV show and into reading Buffy S.8, it was very cool to see Fray back again.

That was exactly what I needed after my foray into the YA teenage/vampire/paranormal subgenre. Some honest slaying. Some awesome colouring. I want MOOOOAAAAR!

I wish I knew where my copy of this book was. This graphic novel is full of gorgeous art. The story and dialog are great, as one would expect from Joss Whedon. I like the world he's created and the plot twist at the end. I fail to see how this series did not continue.

It's good. You can hear most of the plot points coming up over the horizon, but I'm not going to be mad about any extension of the Slayer mythology, so.

It's not over 'til it's over. The vampires are back, and nobody sees them as the threat they are... yet! Street kid Fray, discovers her destiny, with the help of another ugly demon (ala Joss-style. YAY!)I loved this, and hope the next edition shows up soon!
