Solid enough story with good art. Mostly setting up the event that followed, though, so you may want to check out The Black Vortex at the same time.

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 is a great setup for the series. I can't wait to read what happens next.

Star-Lord, at least in this continuity, is pretty much like he is in the movies, except that he's not dating Kitty Pryde. He's a big, lovable, hilarious dumb ass. A dumb ass who makes mistakes, and then makes himself pay for those mistakes, because underneath the booziness and humor, he's ...

Star-Lord in all his adventurous space-faring glory. Part Han Solo, part Robin Hood, and totally running away from some un-expanded-on moment in his recent past that's left him haunted. We get a huge, living jail, Thanos, and even an early mention of the Black Vortex. This book feels really short, b...

So, first, I need to say that Roxy, the JSA's AI, is an absolutely awesome character and if someone doesn't find a way to work her into the New DCU, I'll be bummed. Also, this is absolutely a fantastic superhero team book, with interesting and enjoyable characters, and one of the things about the Ne...

Maybe I should make a "damn it, Morrison" shelf. All too often, he starts with a highly ambitious concept, which starts well and ends in confusion. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan, I respect his love for comics past and that he pushes his writing, and I think he's more brilliant than not. And yet...He...

There is, I suppose, something to be said for a writer willing to take an unusual concept all the way. In this case, telling a story from the perspective of a villain, and keeping him a villain throughout. The problem here is that the Human Flame is so completely unbearable that it's not really any ...

This was a crossover event between four of the Bat-books: Batman (Grant Morrison), Detective Comics (Paul Dini), Robin (Peter Milligan), and Nightwing (Fabian Nicieza). The major ones, in other words. These guys must have had some serious plotting discussion before they went to work, because the usu...

A pretty cool book, and not to difficult to follow along with. My experience is with GIMP rather than Photoshop, but most all of the stuff talked about in here I was familiar with and knew how to do, I just never considered using it this way. This book has made me excited about trying out digital dr...

I will say that I was a bit skeptical at first. I read Morrison's Batman and Son, and I was not very pleased with the convoluted mess of a plot it had. And yet, I find the character of Ra's intriguing enough to pick this up. This book is definitely an improvement. The storyline seems a bit tighter f...
