Frog and Toad Are Friends would be a great story (and there are many Frog and Toad stories) to read to a first grade classroom. It teaches students how to be a good friend to their classmates.
On a whim last night I checked out all four Frog and Toad books from the library. I don't remember reading them as a child, but I've heard good things about them as an adult. The books didn't disappoint. My favorite story from this book is "The Lost Button."
