I was going to use this for a square. But since I skimmed the last 200 pages, I'm not really comfortable using it. (Undoubtedly because I have so many books that qualifiy for squares). Moore's story telling is good and I love the historic notes. So why two stars to this good look at the Ripper? ...
This graphic novel combines chicken scratch artwork and uneven lettering with lacklustre storytelling. It was confusing and boring at the same time. I cannot recommend it at all. The only reason I wasn’t completely lost at the start was because I’d seen the movie years ago. The artwork made it almos...
Ripperology is a mess of theories and conspiracies, an impossible puzzle which obsessive writers turn into narratives that tell us more about the author than about crime or murder. Moore knows this as well as anyone, pointing out in his afterward that the whole thing has become a silly game, a mastu...
Both the artwork and the story were elaborate and interesting, but neither was good for a comic book. The artwork was ink on paper and it was masterfully executed, but in many frames I couldn’t differentiate characters and it made me confused. It was not a very effecient way to read, but the clarification of what was pure fiction, what wa...
Fun read. If anyone is considering reading this book, please get an e-copy and read it on a screen, enlarged. I started with a hard copy, but how small the prints were really got in the way of enjoying the book. My experience got much better once I moved to a screen.
Oh, the shark, has, pretty teeth, dear....and he shows them, pearly white Just a jackknife, has macheath, yeah.....and he keeps it, out of sight When the shark bites, with his teeth, dear....scarlet billows start to spread Fancy gloves, though, wears macheath, yeah..so there's not a trace, hmmmm of ...
Um, I didn't really like it. Actually, I didn't even finish it, which is really rare for me. But I couldn't figure out what was going on, and the writing was hard to read, and i just...got bored. So I stopped.
