This is going to be a bit on the short side because really there's not a lot to say that hasn't already been said by other reviews. 'From the Ashes' is a sweet, low angst love story. With 2 adorable MC's and one big slobbery dog who seems to be intimidated by small children. I liked Jesse and Toma...

re-read to finish a DNF on 7/13/2004 and I didn't like it any better. It was a struggle to finish. I didn't connect with the characters nor did I like the plot.

*** 3.5 Stars ***A great novel by a new-to-me author! My favourite aspect of the book was finding a main character (Tomas Perez) whose voice felt simultaneously fresh and unexpected, yet entirely relatable. I'm always fascinated by different cultural reactions to sexual identity and how these cultur...

I enjoyed this so much. Fireman meets young man whose life is in ruins and a sweet, simple love story develops.

Meh. Nothing good really stood out for me in this one. I couldn't seem to connect with the characters, so I never cared one way or the other. Honestly, I didn't even like the characters. The writing was fine, technically, but it was all very flat for me - even the story itself. I hesitate to even ca...

Somehow this book didn't work for me. I found their behavior with each other not fitting to their situation. I'm sure that's just me, but I couldn't get further along than 10% without constant eye-rolling.

Clearly Daisy Harris loves Seattle as much as I do. It was fun to see my beloved city through someone else's eyes. She's a transplant but she's been assimilated since she actually wears socks with sandals she says. Ewwwww. Even I'm not that bad. :)This was a very sweet book and the only reasons I di...

This wasn't the book I was expecting - I was hoping for more action and more heroics of the physical kind - instead it was a journey with heroics of a more emotional kind.I quite liked the combination of Jesse and Tomas - in the beginning it wasn't all fireworks but there was something special about...
