G. Scott Thomas has been a journalist for nearly 40 years, specializing in coverage of politics, demographics, sports, business, and education. Five of his 10 books have focused on presidential politics: “The Pursuit of the White House” (1987), “The United States of Suburbia” (1998), “Advice from the Presidents” (2008), “A New World to Be Won” (2011), and “Counting the Votes” (2015). Thomas edits a website devoted to the history of presidential elections at CountingTheVotes.com. He holds a B.A. in American history from Washington and Lee University, and currently lives in Tonawanda, N.Y., with his wife and daughter.
