Garry Crowder lives between Washington D.C. and Birmingham, Alabama. He has spent over 25 years in investment banking and asset management. Mr. Crowder created and and was managing partner of one of the first and largest hedge fund platforms based on managed accounts. Throughout his career he has focused on the unique needs of clients -- designing and implementing risk/return solutions for leading multinational banks, large pension plans,insurance companies and family offices. In addition to leading Cortland Advisory Group, Mr. Crowder is a founding director of the Institute for Global Asset and Risk Management - an institute dedicated to independent research and analysis of global assets and their markets. In drafting the forward to Postmodern Investment, Mr. Crowder relyed on his experiences as managing director and member of the executive committee at Morgan Stanley Asset Management, managing partner of Traxis Advisors and Chief Executive Officer of Credit Agricole Structured Asset Management Americas LLC in highlighting the intellectual laziness and emotional uncertainties that investors employ in making investment decisions. In keeping with his view that education is the corner stone of change Mr. Crowder is a trustee at a major university and serves on numerous advisory boards dedicated to financial education. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Alternative Investments.
