Gary Furr is the Pastor of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. Dr. Furr has a B.A. from Carson-Newman University, an M. Div. from Southeastern Baptist Seminary and the Ph.D. in religion from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He is a frequent speaker in conferences and as a writer has edited, written for and co-authored seventeen books, including The Library of Distinctive Sermons, Ties That Bind: Life Together in the Baptist Vision, The Dialogue of Worship, For Faith and Friendship, Theology in Service of the Church, and most recently, Encountering God in the Prayers of Others, also published by Parson's Porch and Poems, Prayers and Unfinished Promises published by Mossy Creek Press. He has served as an adjunct professor at Samford University and Beeson Divinity SchoolGary is a performing musician and songwriter having produced three CDs of his original music (all available on Amazon Mp3 downloads!) and three CDs with the band Shades Mountain Air.A husband, Dad and deliriously happy grandfather, he loves people, travel, books and baseball.
