I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified school psychologist with many years of experience working with children with disabilities and their families. I have 2 grown children and 3 young grandchildren, all of whom are school age, and provide me with insights into current educational practices. In July 2009, my colleague, Dr. Howard Margolis (a reading and learning disabilities specialist), and I published our first book "READING DISABILITIES: BEATING THE ODDS" for parents, teachers, and others involved in educational decision making for children. In addition, we created a free blog to provide additional information and address important questions to increase the chances that parents can get their children the services they need to succeed in school and life. Our blog can be found at: reading2008.com . More recently, we extended our work to parents of children with all disabilities, and published 2 Kindle e-books: READING AND LEARNING DISABILITIES: FIVE WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD in 2013, and NEGOTIATING YOUR CHILD'S IEP: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE in 2014.Remember, with knowledge comes power: parents can learn to become powerful advocates for their children! I hope you will check out the site. And, feel free to contact me with any questions.
