It was Gutierrez' manic fauvre illustration that made this book move--my son sat and looked at pp 32-33 for a long time. The pictures prompted me to get online and listen to something new. 11/2010 - This picture book biography about Jimi Hendrix' childhood was phenomenal. The illustrations fit the era and helped the reader see the music, just as the author contends that Hendrix 'saw' music. Though I'm certainly not 'up' on all the other possible contenders, I'd love to see this book ...
