Wow, 2016 has shaped up as a busy year here at PhotoTree. I released in April, "Then and Now - The Seductive Genius of C. D. Gibson", that illustrates many of the today's and past issues in context of one hundred years ago. This is a fun, yet serious book that looks at late 19th century and early 20th century values through the illustrations and cartoons of Charles Dana Gibson. Most notable for his 'Gibson Girl', his wider body of work was a serious critique of society.Most recently, just November 16th, I released the fifth book in the KwikGuide series on vintage photographs: "20th Century Photographs KwikGuide". This book helps the genealogist and family historian date their early 20th century photos. Covering 1900 to 1950, nearly every family has some photos from this era.Besides the KwikGuide series, I have authored a series of easy-to-follow books on archive photography, gravestone photography, and care of slides and negatives. Over the recent few years, I have also written several books on various eras history, ones that help the family history writer understand how they can write their history in context of the times their ancestor's lived.I have been a photographer and graphics designer for more years than I will admit. I began collecting, researching, documenting, and writing about 19th century history and photography for more than 20 years ago.I am the owner of the PhotoTree.com web site, a source of historical information about vintage photos; how to identify and date them. I participate in the genealogy community giving presentations and classes about old photographs, and as an exhibitor at major genealogy conferences.
