The continuation of the classic story of an unremarkable young man who finds himself rising to the leadership of his nation. Sword & Citadel by Gene Wolfe is the omnibus collection of the last two volumes of The Book of the New Sun tetralogy, The Sword of the Lictor and The Citadel of the Autarch, ...

The classic story of a young man journey from the only home he’s known and finding himself interacting with the strange wider world. Shadow & Claw by Gene Wolfe is the omnibus collection of the first two volumes of The Book of the New Sun tetralogy, The Shadow of the Torturer and The Claw of the Co...

Very dark chocolate. Blatantly part one of a quadrilogy (my copy is the SF Masterworks imprint which bundles ‘Shadow’ with ‘The Claw Of The Conciliator’) what we have here is low on action, high on characterisation, a through-the-roof central idea and much subtlety, particularly of prose. This review is therefore more of a review of the first four books as a whole than it is of this four...

It took me a long time to read such a short book due to my work schedule. I often only managed to read for a few minutes at a time because I kept having to drop what I was doing at a moment’s notice. Today was supposed to be a day off (my first after 14 days), and I ended up working for most of it...

I'm abandoning this audiobook. I've read it before in print and although the narrator isn't bad, I'm bored by it. The print version was actually interesting. The audio one just doesn't work for me.

This is the finale of the Book of the New Sun which is a part of the larger 12 volume Solar Cycle. As many have mentioned you can't read any of the four books on there own. All four volumes are actually one long continuous novel. I really liked how things were wrapped up in this final volume. Howeve...
