This book is a quasi biography of David Tate, remnant chieftain of the Creek Nation. It chronicles Tate's involvement in the Creek Civil War, his battle for indemnifications before Removal. Tate survived with other "friendly" Creeks in Alabama, progenitors of the present-day Poarch Band of Creeks. Noted are the events surrounding the "massacre," at Fort Mims; and the first successful slave revolt on American soil.
