I was born in Boston, grew up near Syracuse, spent summers in New Jersey, vacationed in Maine and have lived in the Philadelphia area since 1968. I have lived in 7 states (MA, NY, PA, NJ, GA, CA, ME) and have had radio shows in 3, GA, CA, PA. Driving across the U.S. 6 times has racked up 45 of the lower 48 I've visited, along with an enormous appreciation for this great country and the people who call it home. In 2012 I had the opportunity to visit my grandchild, living with his parents, in Memphis, TN and visited a friend in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. I took a detour to include Louisiana and got in the last 3 of the lower 48. Now I've driven through all of the lower 48 states and 4 Canadian provinces. Canada has a distinct aura about it that segues from province to province. Having driven through 4 of them and vacationed often there as a child, it has a special place in my heart.Second of six children, we all agree that growing up was almost heaven. We were very happy visiting Verona Beach on Oneida Lake and spending long winters enjoying the deep snow, ice skating, sledding, building snow forts and having snowball fights into the late night hours. The movie, Snow Day, meant a lot to me as I was living in Huntington Beach, CA, at the time. It captured the essence of life in upstate New York deep in the throes of winter. I remember the blizzard of 1966 when we had a third week off from school after Christmas. SNOW DAY!Writing was always a given for me. I just did it. But, I also love singing, acting, dancing and songwriting. Storytelling has become entirely fascinating to me, since writing my first full length historical novel, as I drew heavily on these other gifts to flesh out the people who populate my novel and create their environment with words alone. It was a world that my mother called home, but I had never even visited yet. When I went to Berlin with my mother, Lilo, the first time, it was amazing to me that I actually, really felt there what I had written. I know you will, too. My great Aunt Helen bought "Heddy's Miracles" and read it. Her comment to my Tante Esther was "It's just as I remembered it." I couldn't ask for anything more!
