Grant H. Brenner, MD is a psychiatrist in private practice in New York City, specializing in treating mood and anxiety disorders and the complex problems arising from developmental childhood trauma. He works from a humanistic and integrative perspective, incorporating evidence-based approaches as well as innovative techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and neurofeedback. He is on the faculty of the Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, Director of Trauma Service at the William Alanson White Institute and Vice President of the Board for the not-for-profit Disaster Psychiatry Outreach. He is an author and editor of the book Creating Spiritual and Psychological Resilience: Integrating Care in Disaster Relief Work, and has published a number of book chapters and papers. He blogs and has media experience, and enjoys contributing to and working with writers, and other experts. He is Board-Certified in General Adult Psychiatry, and holds Certificates in Psychoanalysis, and in Organizational Psychodynamics, in addition to other areas of professional development.Dr. Brenner co-founded Neighborhood Psychiatric Associates of Manhattan, a psychiatric group committed to fostering wellness via the provision of high-quality, mainstream care for people experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety and related conditions who are not in need of immediate medical care. We provide a private practice-like space while supporting the use of many health insurance plans. We make every effort to work collaboratively with clients' outside providers, to ensure the best outcomes possible arising from an integrative philosophy.Dr. Brenner enjoys teaching and speaking, and is happy to consult on group and organizational issues which arise when workplace relationships go awry - a common problem given how challenging and rewarding human communication and connection can be, and how difficult it can be for work teams to coordinate and amplify their efforts together.
