Charlene Harris has a talent for writing about the different and the damaged; Harper Connelly is both. Harris' smooth writing style makes this book an easy read but that is not to say that the book is without substance. Harper Connelly and her brother are both people I want to know more about: eth...

In this the first book of the Harper Connelly series Ms Harris introduces us to Harper, the survivor of a lightening strike. She managed to survive and beside the usual physical issues of that much electricity on the human body, Harper now knows where bodies are buried. She hears a buzzing that gets...

3.25 stars. This is my first book by the author and I have to ask, do a lot of her characters have unusual names? Tolliver, Hollis, Dell? Then the rest. I was intrigued by the story but I wasn't entirely drawn in, some of the plot was just a little odd for me and everyone seemed related to every...

I read Grave Sight very fast, so it must have been good. It definitely held my attention, probably because there was always something about to happen next and I was hardly able to put it down. Most of the characters are sort-of roughly sketched, enough to give them personality and distinction, but...

This was the first Charlaine Harris book I'd read so didn't know what to expect. Story-wise it's a good mystery and I didn't guess the ending until...well, the end. I just never really felt connected to the characters though. Harper is really hard to figure out, one minute she's streetsmart and mout...

Oi vey, that was a alot of talking. I loved the premise of this book, but the first person narrative kept me away for quite a long time. Finally biting the bullet, I gave it a shot and I'm not all that glad that I did.Aside from Harper's original search and a quick side job, she didn't use her "grav...

Re-read #1: I'm not sure what brought me back to Harper and Tolliver for a re-read, but I do love this series. This is probably not my first re-read, but it's the first one I've documented. I skimmed over the back story of Harper's lightning strike and their parents drug addiction, as I remember t...

This series has so much potential - Harper Connelly, struck by lightning as a girl, can now sense dead people and how they died. What a great premise to start a mystery series! But this story was a bit flat for me. I even guessed the murderer - something that rarely happens for me.
