Gregory Kaplan is a publisher, instructor, and author. In his career as an assistant professor at Rice University, Kaplan authored the book Hallowing Days: Martin Buber and Franz Rosenzweig on Life Between the Secular and the Sacred (forthcoming), co-edited two books Disciplining Freud on Religion (2010) and Love in the Religions of the World (2011), and published several essays on Jewish religion and modern philosophy. Kaplan's research agenda concerns the prospects for cultural creativity in global higher education. He also studies Chinese and Continental European philosophies. In 2011, Kaplan founded companies to incubate and internationalize East Asian cultural creativity. Bridge21 Publications LLC (California) publishes journals and books; and its subsidiary New Connections LTD (Hong Kong) offers writing instruction for academics and scholars. In 2012-2013 he serves an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Hong Kong.
