Gwen Strauss' most recent book Ruth and the Green Book was released by Lerner in the Fall of 2010. The book has gone on to receive numerous awards. Her book of poems, Trail of Stones, with illustrations by Anthony Browne was published in 1990 by Knopf in New York and Walker Books in London. Poems from this collection continue to be widely anthologized and performed. Most recently her poem Bluebeard was part of the original play by John Gentile Dark Forest performed at Kennesaw State University. Her second book, The Night Shimmy, a children's book with the same illustrator has been translated into six languages, and recently has been released as an ebook. Her poems, short stories and essays have appeared in numerous journals including The New Republic, London Sunday Times, New England Review, Kenyon Review, Tampa Review and Antioch Review among others. She is the assistant director at the Brown Foundation Fellowship Program at the Dora Maar House in Ménerbes, France, an artist residency program run by the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. She lives in Southern France with her three children.
