Gwendolyn Audrey Foster attended Douglass College for Women, part of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Foster teaches at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where she is a Professor in the Department of English. Foster has published many volumes on gender, race, and class in the cinema and popular culture. Her most recent book is entitled "Hoarders, Doomsday Preppers, and the Culture of Apocalypse." Foster and Dixon's co-authored textbook, "A Short History of Film," was issued in a Second Edition in 2013. "A Short History of Film" is the first to include many women and minorities who were previously written out of film history. For fifteen years, Foster and Dixon Co-Edited Quarterly Review of Film and Video. Foster and Dixon also serve as Series Editors for the book series 'New Perspectives on World Cinema' published with Anthem Press, UK.
