Extremely disappointing. I really enjoyed The Yiddish Policemen Union and Kavalier & Clay, and had high expectations for Wonder Boys. Unfortunately, the book didn't deliver. It's supposed to be a satire, but the prose tries too hard. Sentences are belabored, even more convoluted and wordy than Chabo...
As you can see from my updates, a splendid comic novel, hard to put down, hard not to laugh out loud. PS: Having only read the cover after finishing the book, don't look at it, it'll only put you off, it's not a good description of the book. Evidently it is also a movie...can't imagine how that work...
After thinking about my original rating (3 stars), I thought, "naaah"" and rated the book a 2. Grady Tripp
