Harry Polkinhorn (1945- ) was born in Calexico, California. He lived in Europe from 1972 to 1977 and has taught English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University since 1977, where he is Director of SDSU Press. He is a permanent visiting professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paolo, Brazil. He is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association and maintains a private practice in clinical psychoanalysis in San Diego. His many publications include over 40 books of poetry, fiction, edited collections, and translations.
