This book is very strange. Aside from the annoying use of baby talk in all the examples, I found it bizarre that a pediatrician was recommending using cookies and juice as bribes in about 80 percent of the scenarios described. These problems made it hard to believe his advice was sound.

Good tips, not all of them worked for us. I also watched the DVD,which had basically the same info. I would recommend just watching the DVD! The book just went into way more detail, more testimonials, and more about how different civilizations have calmed their babies throughout time.

Like many of the other reviewers, I found Dr Karp's first book helpful but this one? Not so much. But for different reasons. I have a "high need" child, as I've mentioned, and while he does devote a little space to different toddler temperaments, unfortunately his advice just won't work for my kid. ...

definitely a lot of helpful tips and interesting information. written very accessibly (with an extreme overuse of exclamation points) makes it an easy casual read. luckily micah isn't colicky, but there are still things i can use from this book.

Lots of my friends have sworn by this book for crying babies. Maybe I'll be lucky and get a baby as easy as I was. If not, I'll try the calming method described in this book.
