Heather Spears, Canadian-born writer and artist, has lived in Denmark since 1962. She has published 14 collections of poetry, 4 novels , and 3 books of drawings. The Creative Eye, drawing, vision and the brain (the new, fully illustrated edition 2012) is the first of a series on drawing and perception. Spears has won the Lowther Award 3 times, The CBC Literary Prize and The Governor General's Award. She is a respected teacher of drawing workshops in Denmark, the UK and Canada, and has held artist residencies in hospitals, drawn in courtrooms, war zones, concert halls, and at literary festivals, and specializes in drawing premature and stillborn babies. She has exhibited her drawings widely in Europe and America.
