I've read this as a child, but I don't remember much and it was time to reread it again.I really loved this one. There is just so much purity in children's books. They always make me feel good, happy and smiling.
Still treacly. Still piously Christian in every particular. But still and all, wonderful. When poor Heidi is away from her mountain, my heart breaks for her. When she is with the goats, I could sing. This audio version is nicely done, and makes a beautiful bedtime story.
I loved this book in a way I could never love Little Women or Anne of Green Gables, and I have no idea why. I think something about it just appealed to me. However, the sequel is actually BETTER.
