An intriguing book, bringing to the fore the terrible lives led by immigrants as they worked in the fields, slaved in them. The fears they held and what little they had that was truly theirs.
Reading this book is like watching an Indie film, and you either like those or you don't (I usually don't.) Gorgeous imagery, shallow characters, confusing ending . . . all in all, I would rather have been reading something else.
