I think this has been one of the hardest books that I have read in a long time. It isn't the writing that makes it hard, however, I will say that it is all taken from Henry's journal entries so the flow is rough. No, the reason why it is such a hard read is that Henry's depression, self loathing a...
I thought the first half was really good. It was interesting and exciting at the beginning when the zombies first started attacking. Later sections were tedious. If you are reading this book expecting it to be like the movie, don't bother. If you like zombie books, this one is okay.
My zombie fetish has not entirely waned, so I followed my reading of [b:World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War|8908|World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War|Max Brooks|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320398267s/8908.jpg|817] with the abridged audio version. All rumors you may have heard ...
I do not find the military or military command or structure very interesting, and this book is mostly about that, so it suffered for me from my inherent disinterest in the topic. I should have realized it was mostly about the military from the reviews I read and even from the title of the book, but...
Interested in more of my reviews? Visit my blog! I did like this one surprisingly. I say surprisingly because this is ultimately a documentary of what happened in 'World War Z' and had great potential of being boring. I thought it was a nice change up in writing style. Considering the fact that all ...
I really enjoyed this. I listened to the abridged audiobook (dramatization?), although I do own the book as well. First, I must say that if you read Max Brooks' "Zombie Survival Guide" and are looking for that kind of feel again, you've come to the wrong place. The "Zombie Survival Guide" was a so-s...
Maybe it's just me, but I don't get Henry Rollins' writing compared to that of his spoken word. Both are completely different. I gave this book my time in a book store years ago, and refused to buy it. It's the same Rollins diatribe and would much rather watch and listen to him on stage than read...
First of all - I love Henry Rollins. Always have. I loved Black Flag, The Henry Rollins Band, and all of Henry's spoken word material both live and on CD. But as far as his books go?--waste of time. Maybe he likes his own work and thinks we all will?--I'm not sure. But he definitely lost me wit...
