Strong start to an original and fun mystery series with a young, penniless daughter of a Duke as the reluctant sleuth. I started this series at book six, "The Twelve Clues Of Christmas" which was such a splendid Christmas Cozy Mystery that I decided to go back to the beginning and read all the ...

Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen follows the tale of Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie - otherwise known as Georgie - as she moves, or rather is kicked out, from her home in Scotland. Georgie is the half-sister of a Duke and 34th in line to the throne, but even though she's royalty, she's dir...

For this episode of Masterpiece Mystery, I made sure I made a pot of tea with some biscuits. I happen to like this time in history. Stuff was going down in Europe, people were choosing love over country and leaving the throne, Colin Firth was learning how not to speak with a stutter, etc. What really...

I had fun reading Her Royal Spyness. Minor royals struggling financially, working at department store cosmetics counters to make ends meet, and crashing wedding receptions to eat a decent meal every once in awhile--Bowen makes these ideas work, and they make for humorous situations. I also enjoyed m...

I was already a fan of Rhys Bowen because of the other two series she writes but now I'm a fan because of this one too! I'd call this an updated version of a British cozy. It's fun, it's light, it's easy to read and the characters are very likeable. The heroine is a minor British royal who's incr...

This was my introduction to "cozy mysteries", and I quite enjoyed it. Even if I had only "The King's Speech" (imagining Twistwam's pronunciation as that of Colin Firth) and "The Unicorn and the Wasp" (Doctor Who episode) on which to base my mental pictures of the era. You know, where a lot of things...

Downloaded from Audible.com. Narrated by Katherine Kellgren.A very light satirical mystery set in 1930’s England. Georgie is 21, a Duke’s sister and 34th in line to the throne. Despite some intimacy with royalty, her family is dead broke so she escapes from a drafty estate in Scotland to London whe...

This was fine. The mystery was kind of easy to figure out, but I really enjoyed the protagonist, and the reader (I listened to this in audiobook form) was fantastic.
One Book Away From an Episode of Hoarders
This was quite cute. I think the narrator did a fabulous job. I was disappointed when it was over. I'll definitely read the next in the series. :D
