For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleAn odd adventure story that proves you can find wonders in the most unexpected of places. I really enjoyed the mashup of reality and fantasy elements. What a remarkable comic book! Once I picked it up, I couldn't set it down. Until I finished it. Mirka is a young girl in Hereville, a town of Orthodox Jews. While the rest around her study and learn the skills they'll need in their adult lives, she dreams of fighting dragons. A chance discovery on...

A fun, charming graphic novel based in folklore. The art isn't all that attractive, something about it turns me off. But it works to tell the story, and overall it's a fun read.

I really enjoyed this one–a graphic novel about a Orthodox Jewish girl who fights trolls. It sounds zany, but it has some great moments, both funny and touching. I loved the expressiveness of Deutsch’s characters, and the different color palettes. [Oct. 2011]

This is a really unique graphic novel - featuring fantasy elements in an Orthodox Jewish setting. I thought it was really interesting the way the author blended elements of the fantastical, like talking pigs, in with everyday moments that could still seem a bit otherwordly. I was not a huge fan of t...

I haven't gotten to it yet, but last night the PandaBat plundered my library pile. She gobbled it up like an ice cream sundae. With sprinkles.***Ah, well, now I understand.
