After finishing Home Front, I went back and looked over my list of Kristin Hannah books I've read. I noticed a pattern -- while I enjoyed some more than others, in general her books fall in the 3-star range for me. Not bad, but not exceptional. It also seems my issues fall into similar categories --...

I'm not even going to rate this one because I only got to 36% before I moved on to bigger and better books. One lady in the book club assured me that she was crying and sobbing in the end. This book was just so boring for me. I couldn't relate to the characters at all. Jolene was such a push-over in ...

A story of war and the toll it takes on soldiers and their loved ones left here at home. I read this book pretty quickly and cried through most all of it. One problem was it ended rather quickly and it seemed like all the problems were taken care of pretty quick also. I know from seeing my mother an...

Jolene and Michael are a ‘normal’ couple with two kids, a lovely home… and a crumbling marriage. The distance between them seems to be becoming unsurmountable and Michael caves one day and says he doesn’t love Jolene anymore. A hard statement to overcome at the best of times but when your wife is su...

What a heartbreaking book. I cried. A lot.Let me start off by saying I'm more like Michael in this book...I'm not the military type. WHY he married someone in the military and then BLAMED her for being in the military, though, is beyond me. Anyhow. Because I'm not the military type I don't particula...

What a great book, powerful, intense, and so emotional that at times I had trouble reading because of my tears. I totally admire the heroine and am grateful for our soldiers. Michael and Jolene are having marital problems when she is deployed to Iraq and agonizes about leaving her children.

This book will eat you up and spit you out. I am not a crier but this book made me want to bawl my eyes out. I had to blink back tears a few times. I know people in the military and while reading this I could picture what they go through on a daily basis it was heart wrenching. You can read my full r...

Homefront by Kristin HannahMike and Joleene have problems as everybody has. He's just told her shortly after her 41st birthday party and he no longer loves her. He even brings the wrong color roses. He's too busy with his work life that he's neglected her and the 2 kids. He even wants to get a divor...

MY THOUGHTSLOVED ITJolene and Michael deal with daily life like other couples, they have their ups and downs, although currently, there are in a down phase. So when reservist Jolene is called up for duty to serve in Iraq, the family is thrown into turmoil. Although she hides it, as a mother of you...
