Disappointing. I didn't connect with any of the characters. Things that I probably wouldn't notice, or care about, irked me. Melody's parents are too nice and wacky. Too nice (think of a Hallmark Christmas movie!)! And of course, they live in Jake's old house. Yep, he recognized it. After 233+ years...
I found Melody really annoying as a heroine. I have the audio version, so I didn't notice the typos many other reviewers complained of, but in general, the fact that she didn't just break it off clean with before the story even started made me frown on her actions through the rest of the book. Loved the backdrop of the Revolutionary war for this time travel. Although it was odd that Jake so readily accepted what had happened to him. But truly liked all the characters.
dnfAfter 2 1/2 cd's I ejected this one. I did not like Melody (or Melody's voice in this audiobook version). Jake was way too calm for someone who finds himself in present day intead of dead on the gallows in revoluntionary times.
