I wanted to like this book, since the premise of it sounded interesting to me. Unfortunately, it was mostly fluff, with lots of unbelievable plot points, ridiculous coincidences, and characters who didn't feel real. Disappointing.

This was a good story that I enjoyed very much. I really think that Ford put me right into 1942 Seattle. It is a great love story all the way around. From the very beginniing to the very end. I highly recommend this for a great summer read.

I thought this book did a good job of writing about a painful subject: the internment of the Japanese Americans during World War II and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was a little put off by the few anachronisms about the internet and online support groups in a book that was supposed to take place in 19...

As someone who is absolutely fascinated with studying the Japanese "concentration"(oops), I mean internment camps, in the US during WWII. I loved this story. I must say though that I still prefer to read non-fiction on this topic, but it was a nice change of pace.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book...I didn't read the back before starting to read it, so didn't have any expectations. The story broke my heart, but in a good way.It amazed me through the book at the full-out racism that faced anyone who wasn't white...I mean, I knew it existed, but have n...

Lovely story as well as educational. Set during WWII but not the usual setting (on the battlefield or in Europe). Looking forward to this author's next book, whatever it may be.

I enjoyed the historical aspect of this book, and living in Seattle, it was fun to imagine the various places described as they might have been. I did find the period of the 1980s confusing and not really true to the 80s as I remember them. More detail of that era might have helped locate the reader...

I really, really enjoyed this one! I sat down yesterday to read a little and basically read it from cover to cover in one afternoon. The story is just so beautifully written and the characters and their relationships are poignant and heartfelt. I didn't know a lot about what went on in the US during...
